Trip to the Hospital
Posted On: 01/06/2008 16:12:19

Phew, today has not been a great day.  I waited up all night for my father to be ready to head off to bed.  Six am came along and he went into a huge panic attack.  We ended up having to call 911 for an ambulance.  He was in shock from his attack and started fighting off the people trying to help him.  It took about an hour to get him calmed down and into the ambulance to take off to the hospital.  Once he got there, they put him on a breathing machine usually meant for Sleep Apnea, however since my dad was fighting the oxygen he was getting this machine was important.  It forces oxygen into his lungs with or without him trying to fight.  He calmed down once on there, felt much better but not completely.  When the xrays came back the doc said he has pneumonia AND a collapsed lung.  So, they immediately started him on antibiotics and fixed his collapse lung.  He is now in the ICU and admitted for who knows how long, but atleast he's feeling much better at this point.

I said a little about my father in the "About Me" section, but failed to mention what he's sick with.  He has a disease caused Sarchoidosis, doctors don't know too much about that disease at the moment, so he is on an experimental protocol, as that is his only chance of surviving his terminal illness.

The local doctors have given up on my father.  They were taught that there is no treatment or cure for my father's disease.  But a man that had this disease himself, researched it to find out information that the FDA is now looking into and this man is now completely well.  My father is on this treatment and hoping it'll work for him too, but the local doctors just don't want to listen to us about it at all.  They are trying to ship my father far away from us to be put on a ventilator to die :(
