Redback spider antivenene

More than 250 Australians are bitten each year by the redback spider. Some people have died from its poison.

In 1956, Dr Saul Weiner discovered an antivenene for the redback spider.

Redback venom is harmless to horses, because horses produce antibodies in their blood to fight it.

The antivenene is made from these antibodies
