Laminated Tennis Racquet
Posted On 02/02/2008 16:50:03 by aurora

Alfred Alexander invented the first laminated tennis racquet in the world, he also patented this idea.

Alexander and S.B. Hopwood established the first Alexander Patent Racket Company Ltd factory  Launceston, in 1926. In its early years, the company attempted to use Tasmanian timber but after many tests it became necessary for them  to import high quality Ash from England.

Champion tennis player Jack Crawford adopted and endorsed the Alexander racket and used it in 1933 when he won Wimbledon.
